Benefits and risks of AI in cybersecurity

What are the benefits and risks of AI in cybersecurity? Here is a list that I have come up with:

Benefits:

1. Improved threat detection and response.

2. Automation of repetitive tasks freeing up human analyst time.

3. Increased accuracy of intrusion detection systems.

4. Generation of generative models for cybersecurity purposes.

5. Improved risk assessment and management.

Risks:

1. Bias and ethical concerns in AI decision making.

2. Dependence on technology leading to a lack of critical thinking skills in security personnel.

3. Increased vulnerability to cyber-attacks due to reliance on AI systems.

4. Concerns over privacy and data security in the use of AI systems.

5. Difficulty in explaining AI decisions and determining accountability in the event of a security breach.

As the technology improves we need to balance the pros and cons of introducing a new technology into our products. This is particularly important for cybersecurity for threat detection and response
